National professional association representing community pharmacies seeks a speedy, versatile staff writer to create and edit content for association communication vehicles, including magazine, e-newsletters, news releases and op-eds, website, speeches, event scripts, and social media. At least five years experience producing incisive copy quickly for a range of vehicles and topics and with a compelling voice is required. Director, Policy and Regulatory Affairs

Responsibilities include actively monitoring legislative and regulatory developments related to health care and the pharmacy industry; drafting comments, letters and general advocacy documents (one-pagers, talking points, etc.) to influence those actions; and providing cogent, actionable guidance to association members. Represent association before regulatory agencies, outside organizations and, when necessary, Congressional offices. Demonstrated success tracking Congressional and/or Medicare regulatory processes strongly preferred. Advanced degree also preferred in law or healthcare policy. Responsibilities including monitoring and analyzing state legislation and regulation that affects community pharmacy; developing model legislation and other resources on priority issues; building relationships with state policymakers and political organizations representing state elected officials; working with state-level industry partners; and limited congressional-level advocacy as needed. Polished interpersonal, writing and presentation skills required. Knowledge of state government, health care, Medicaid, insurance industry and pharmacy preferred. JD or other advanced degree preferred. Some travel required.
