Senior Vice President—Government Affairs

The National Community Pharmacists Association is seeking a Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. This position is responsible for directing federal and state legislative and regulatory advocacy outreach; leading the development of the Association's legislative positions and strategies; as well as representing the interests of community pharmacists before Congress, the Administration, federal agencies and state legislatures.

Expected Outcomes include effective strategy development for the association's congressional and state legislative activities, identifying and analyzing issues of concern to community pharmacists, and lobbying Congress and federal regulatory agencies on behalf of the association's membership. Successful Candidate will cross train with the organization's other department's to maximize member value from all organizational initiatives. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and relate well with membership, industry partners and, at times, represent the association's positions in response to press inquiries. The ability to develop strategy that extract maximum grassroots advocacy value from membership base is essential. The candidate will oversee the department's budget and the organization's PAC strategy and must possess financial management acumen.

Ideal candidate will be a registered lobbyist and have at least 10 years of legislative and regulatory experience in healthcare issues; ability to access key decision makers is imperative. The position requires demonstrated legislative and regulatory accomplishment; success managing and optimizing team member talent; knowledge of Congress, federal agencies and the legislative regulatory process; and analytical abilities. Demonstrated results in taking a creative approach to produce desired outcomes is an asset. Competitive compensation including excellent benefits; located close to King Street Metro. Director, State Government Affairs

National Professional Association representing community pharmacists seeks a Director of State Government Affairs. Individual will be responsible for helping to manage association's state government affairs program, including monitoring and analyzing legislation and regulation that affects community pharmacy; building relationships with state policymakers and political organizations representing state elected officials; and working with state pharmacy associations. Knowledge of state government, Medicaid, health care, insurance industry preferred. Some travel required, advanced degree preferred.
