Director, Federal Government Relations
Alexandria national health care association located near King Street Metro is seeking a senior level, goal-oriented team player to assist in developing, coordinating and implementing comprehensive strategies to influence Federal policymakers. Candidate will meet with regulators and participate in lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill. Candidate will be responsible for drafting backgrounders, policy papers and information for distribution to congressional offices and government agencies.
Ideal candidate will have an advanced degree and five years of experience on the hill with Congressional relations, corporate government affairs or advocacy organizations. State Government Affairs Manager
Alexandria national healthcare trade association located near King Street metro is seeking a State Government Affairs Manager to assist in the expansion of their state government affairs presence. This position will assist in the coordination of state legislative and regulatory activities through research, legislative tracking and policy development. They will track state legislation, regulation. The candidate will be responsible for making direct contact with state policy makers and related staff to convey the association’s position on legislative and regulatory issues. Other responsibilities include website development and maintenance, developing and providing timely and relevant talking points, model legislation and general letters of support to state-affiliated contacts and membership and fostering relationships with affiliated state organizations. Candidate may support Federal lobbying staff through similar work items.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in government relations, public administration, public relations, policy or related field. Experience with state or federal government affairs or legislative departments/offices would be preferred. The candidate must have a strong professional interest in State government, lobbying and regulatory affairs. Strong communication and organizational skills are a must as well as having the ability to work independently and being self driven.
