NCPA Inaugural Benefits Consultants Forum
NCPA Inaugural Benefits Consultants Forum held in Naples, FL February 15 and 16 2012, represented an important first step in establishing an on-going dialogue between independent pharmacists and health benefits consultants.
Since benefit consultants are hired by health plans sponsors and employers that are actively making near-term decisions regarding changing PBMs, renewing PBM contracts, implementing new plan designs such as mandatory mail or new pharmacy network configurations, benefits consultants are in a unique position to engage with the health plan sponsors prior to any final decisions being made and implemented. It is critical that independent pharmacists communicate their pharmacy benefit trend control and patient outcome value to this important audience as it relates to a number of health plan sponsor concerns including:
- Maintenance Medication Management
- Specialty Drugs
- Improving Adherence
- Increasing the Appropriate Use of Generics
- Performance Networks
