NIPCO Unveils Revamped Affiliates-Only Website
Seattle, Washington - October 18, 2003

A new website for the National Institute for Pharmacist Care Outcomes (NIPCO) Affiliate pharmacists debuted at the National Community Pharmacists Association's (NCPA) 105th Annual Convention and Exposition in Seattle, Washington, October 18-22, 2003. NIPCO is NCPA's disease management education arm.

NIPCO's Affiliate Program was launched at last year's convention. Pharmacists who join the program and become Affiliates receive specialized networking opportunities and practical workplace services. Benefits of the Affiliate Program include Internet-based services accessed at www.nipco.org. New affiliate members can join the program at the NCPA booth at the Seattle Convention. Membership is $99.

The updated website is available only to NIPCO Affiliates. It showcases the following benefits:
  • Ask a Virtual Mentor
Need expert advice, information, or support? Access the Virtual Mentor to ask a question or request assistance with a particular challenge when trying to implement or deliver disease management and wellness services. An expert consultant will respond within five business days. NIPCO Affiliates receive a single, professional consultation of up to 30 minutes. Additional consultation time is available for a fee.

  • Inside Pharmacist Care
The popular section from America's Pharmacist magazine is available online for NIPCO Affiliates. The online format will not only feature the most up-to-date columns on professional billing issues and important disease management marketplace news, but will also include an archive of highlights from past issues--a valuable resource for providing pharmacist care.

  • NIPCO Affiliate Showcase/Locator Service
The NIPCO Affiliate Showcase/Locator Service will be displayed on the NCPA website (www.ncpanet.org). This online database will feature a profile of each NIPCO Affiliate, including specialized services provided. Patients and health care professionals who surf the NCPA website will find this feature useful when looking for a pharmacist with unique experience.

  • NIPCO ListServe
This e-mail listserve feature allows NIPCO Affiliates the ability to connect with colleagues and discuss ideas and problems regarding the successes and difficulties they have encountered with disease management and wellness programs in their pharmacies. Using the NIPCO ListServe, pharmacists can pose questions, get answers, spur debate, and more.

  • Pharmacist Care Pricing Model
Direct from the pages of Pricing Pharmacist Care Services to a downloadable format on the NIPCO website, the Pharmacist Care Pricing Model is an invaluable tool to pharmacists who provide disease management and other specialized professional services. The tool enables pharmacists to formulate a price that places an appropriate value on professional services.
The National Institute for Pharmacist Care Outcomes, launched by NCPA in 1995, is the national accrediting organization for pharmacist care education and training programs leading to the Pharmacist Care Diplomate credential and a leading authority in helping community pharmacists develop new market niches in disease management.

The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) represents the nation's community pharmacists, including the owners of nearly 24,000 pharmacies. The nation's independent pharmacies, independent pharmacy franchises, and independent chains represent a $67 billion marketplace, dispensing nearly half of the nation's three billion retail prescription medicines.
