Anti-Meth Provisions Take Effect

New federal regulations on the sale of products containing pseudoephedrine took effect in April 2006 and additional ones will be effective September 30th, including logbook and behind-the-counter placement requirements. If your state has more stringent requirements, aimed at making it more difficult to produce methamphetamine, they remain in place.

Please refer to this document for synopsis of the new law and for pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, and phenylpropanolamine base daily sales limit equivalency charts as well all regulations effective in 2006.  The full document is available on the DEA Web site at www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/meth/cma2005_general_info.pdf.

As a reminder there are penalties of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment for violating the new law, however, if your state has more stringent requirements, aimed at making it more difficult to produce methamphetamine, they remain in place.
