NCPA Student Political Advocacy Challenge Award

Students are seen but not heard by politicians. Young voters are considered apathetic and uninterested in the political process. Student members of NCPA have the ability and the resources to impact their respective elected official. This impact from young professionals can influence politicians to understand and protect the rights of young pharmacists and young pharmacy owners. The goal of the Political Advocacy Challenge Award competition is to contribute a combined $4,000 dollars from all national students chapters to support the LDF and to educate and empower students to plan and execute Government Action Programs.
  Mission

To support NCPA's Legislative Defense Fund (LDF) financially and to empower students to protect and promote the future interests of independent pharmacy in the political arena.
  Deadline
Deadline for submission of application is March 1st.
  Eligibility Requirements
  • All participating students must be NCPA members.

  • Each chapter submitting an application must have an advisor that is a Pharmacist member of NCPA or a full time faculty member of the submitting College of Pharmacy.

  • Advisor must sign all application material to verify the accuracy of submitted materials.

  FAQs
What is the money used for/what does the LDF do?
The LDF supports our national and state government affairs activities on your behalf. For example, student's previous donations have contributed to Medicaid reimbursement (AMP) by the introduction of two new bills H.R.3140 and S.1951.

Why should I contribute to the LDF?
Last year alone the health care industry spent $325 million-more than any other sector-in its efforts to influence Congress and federal agencies. The influence the government has over your future practice is indeed great, and NCPA can provide assistance in protecting your future business/goals.

What are the benefits of contributing?
NCPA is the only group on Capital Hill battling for the unique needs of independent pharmacies. The government has a huge impact on our future profession and our future business. We can't afford to stay silent.
