Regional Leadership Positions

NCPA SEC National Student President-Elect
- Serves as chairman of the SRC
- Serve as the NCPA Summer Intern
- Must have previously served as a chapter officer
- Must be an NCPA member
Responsibilities:
- Serves as spokesperson for the SRC.
- Assists the President and NCPA Staff in dissemination of information regarding NCPA student activities
- Serves as secretary of all meetings of the SLC
- Attendance at NCPA Annual Convention, NCPA Steering Committee Forum, and NCPA Conference on National Legislation and Public Affairs
- Responsible for coordinating all joint activities of the SLC and the SRC
NCPA SEC Student Regional Council (SRC)
- Serve on the regional level to assist the SLC in dissemination of information to NCPA Student Chapter officers
- It is preferred that the 8 SRC members be from a different school than members of the SLC.
- In the event that a region does not nominate a candidate for SRC, the SLC will appoint a student from an unrepresented college of pharmacy to serve for the region as their SRC member.
Responsibilities:
- Serves a two-year term: the first year on the SRC, and the second year as SLC member.
- Responsible for communicating with the schools in each region
- Responsible for reporting pertinent chapter information to the SLC and NCPA Department of Student Affairs
- Attendance at NCPA Annual Convention and NCPA Conference on National Legislation and Public Affairs is required.
NOTE: In the event that a student cannot serve the full two-year term, the SLC and SRC will appoint a chapter officer from an unrepresented college of pharmacy to take his or her place.
Regional Nomination Procedure and Timeline
- Each NCPA Student Chapter must nominate at least one chapter officer as a candidate for SRC (see II - E on Appointment of SRC nominees)
- Nominations must be made to the SLC prior to NCPA Annual Convention
- All nominees wishing to apply to serve on the SRC must be present at the NCPA Annual Convention
- All nominees must also attend the Open Forum for SRC nominees at NCPA Annual Convention (see section II-D on Open Forum for SRC nominees)
- All nominees must submit application by January 15th. Complete applications must include the following:
- Cover letter detailing their career goals
- Curriculum vitae or resume
- Two letters of recommendation:
- One must come from a pharmacy owner and one must come from a faculty member.
- One of these individuals must be an NCPA member.
Open Forum for SRC Nominees
- Occurs on Saturday evening during NCPA Annual Meeting
- All SRC nominees must be present to be eligible for selection
- Candidates will be given the opportunity to meet with the current SLC and SRC individually in an informal setting
- The purpose of this meeting is to assess the nominee’s knowledge of NCPA and ability to serve in this capacity
Appointment of SRC Nominees (by NCPA Student Chapters)
Candidates for NCPA Student Regional Council from the Chapter are to be planned and executed in accordance with the criteria stated in this section.
Qualifications for Candidates
- Must be a member of NCPA
- Must be a current or previous officer of the NCPA Chapter at the school.
- Must be enrolled in the college or school of pharmacy at the time they serve as SRC member
- Must be able to complete their term of office as SRC member and SLC member while enrolled in the College or School of Pharmacy.
- If more than one candidate applies, then nominee elections are to be held.
- When announcing candidacy for SRC nominee from the Chapter, the candidate must also announce if he or she would like to be considered for National President-Elect.
- All candidates must submit an application to the Chapter by September 1st.
- Possible SRC Nominees must attend the Annual NCPA Convention in October of the application year.
- It is recommended that the local chapter or school fund the trip to the national convention for their SRC Nominee.
NOTE: If no officer applies to be the Chapter Nominee for SRC, then the Chapter President must appoint a nominee from the chapter membership
