Award Criteria
The Partners in Pharmacy Scholarship will be made on the basis of the following priorities:
- Leadership Qualities: Potential candidates will be evaluated by the Partners in Pharmacy Scholarship Committee on the basis of interests of all aspects of the pharmaceutical profession—educationally, philanthropically, and socially, and to support legislation for the improvement of the retail drug and pharmacy business.
- Academic Achievement: Scholastic success is a necessary condition for consideration of the award and will be measured using current college transcripts.
- Demonstrated Interest: Scholarship winners must have completed two years of pre-pharmacy, and the scholarships are awarded to students based on scholastic achievement, financial need, and career goals.
Eligibility
The Partners in Pharmacy program will be continued during the 2008-2009 academic year. All pharmacy students who are student members of NCPA are eligible to apply for the Partners in Pharmacy Scholarship per academic year. The student must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. school or college of pharmacy on a full-time basis during the 2008 fall term and the 2009 spring term. Note: Students may only receive this award one time.
Children of Partners in Pharmacy Officers, NCPA Foundation Officers, NCPA Officers, or NCPA Executive Committee members are not eligible to participate in the program.
Application Process
Each applicant must complete an Partners in Pharmacy Scholarship Application Form. In addition, the student must provide the following materials with the completed application:
- A copy of the most recent official transcript of his or her college grades.
- A letter from a school official familiar with the student's activities. This letter should briefly describe the student's extracurricular accomplishments, leadership qualities and contributions to the school.
- A letter from a pharmacy owner or manager, preferably an NCPA member. This letter should briefly describe the student's extracurricular accomplishments, leadership qualities and contributions to the profession of pharmacy.
- A letter from the applicant to the Partners in Pharmacy Scholarship Awards Committee outlining his or her school and civic accomplishments and objectives for the future. Must provide a separate one-page description of his or her interest of the pharmaceutical profession—educationally, philanthropically, and socially, and to support legislation for the improvement of the retail drug and pharmacy business.
- A résumé or curriculum vitae describing the student's work and professional experience.
All application forms and supporting documents must be POSTMARKED by: March 15, 2008
Payment Process
The Partners in Pharmacy Scholarship is awarded to ten (10) pharmacy students on an individual basis and is non-transferable. Each recipient will receive a check from the NCPA Foundation on behalf of Partners in Pharmacy for $2,000 during the 2008 NCPA Annual Convention in Tampa, FL, October 11, 2008.
Transfer from one accredited school or college of pharmacy to another is permitted, provided the academic standards of the previous institution have been met at the time of transfer.
Application Deadline
All application forms and supporting documents must be postmarked by March 15, 2008.
