Director of Political and External Affairs

Alexandria national healthcare association located near the King Street metro seeks dynamic and innovative professional to direct political action committee (PAC), legal defense fund (LDF), and external affairs/grassroots programs. This highly motivated self-starter will develop and execute the strategic agenda for all PAC/LDF and external affairs/grassroots initiatives to increase political education and excite and motivate association membership. Position requires a keen understanding of the factors that influence giving in the association marketplace and an innovative results-oriented approach to fundraising and fundraising events. The successful candidate will be a driven, organized professional team member who is a talented communicator focused on member service and engagement with excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills. Candidate should have demonstrated aptitude and success in fundraising, political compliance and grassroots activation and execution.

Graphic Designer

The National Community Pharmacists Association is looking for an exceptional Graphic Designer to work in a two-person department to assist on projects including a monthly magazine, advertising, convention related materials, membership campaigns and video projects. The successful candidate will be bright, ambitious, and possess an impressive portfolio that demonstrates a solid foundation and a flair for creativity. A good understanding and genuine passion for all design media is a must.

The candidate should possess the ability to take direction and manage assigned projects that include digital assets for print, presentations, and video production. The candidate should have strong design fundamentals and be able to see projects through from concept to completion with a professional and enjoyable attitude. Most importantly, the Graphic Designer should not only be passionate about design but also have the ability to take constructive criticism and incorporate feedback.

The ideal candidate will need the following:

  • BA/BFA in design or equivalent training

  • Proficiency with Mac platform required

  • Strong knowledge of Adobe CS5. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Motion or Aftereffects is a bonus.

  • Ability to multi-task and consistently hit deadlines

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize assigned projects and tasks with minimal supervision is required

  • Ability to brainstorm effective concepts and be a creative problem solver

  • Self-motivated and well organized

  • Great interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong technical and production skills

  • Pleasant demeanor and a can-do attitude with the ability to take constructive criticism

  • Keen interest in design trends and new technologies

  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and help out in all phases of the design process
