Alexandria, Va. (October 1, 2012) The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) has announced its current exhibit hall activities during the 114th Annual Convention and Trade Exposition at the San Diego Convention Center, October 13-17.

The NCPA Trade Exposition is the most powerful and productive trade show in the independent pharmacy industry. Hundreds of companies, representing products and services from OTC to automation, offer attendees the best opportunity to secure the latest in products and services from a greater variety of vendors than at any other trade show in the pharmacy industry. A current list of those exhibitors can be found here.

New this year will be daily non-CE business basics with NCPA Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Gabe Trahan of Front End Overhaul who will lead business breakfast discussions and identify the top five products each day on the tradeshow floor and help attendees learn how to merchandise them back home in their pharmacies.

The National Community Pharmacists Association Foundation (NCPAF) will host its annual Silent Fundraising Auction October 14- 15 in the Exhibit Hall. Proceeds from the auction support scholarships to pharmacy students, research/programs to improve the success of independent community pharmacy, community-based health care awareness programs, and disaster relief aid to community pharmacy owners. Auction items include art, pharmacy and sports memorabilia, and travel packages.

On Sunday, October 14 in the Exhibit Hall, attendees can view the Student Chapter Poster Session, highlighting successful events and projects completed by NCPA student chapters over the past year. The poster session will also feature the work of the college and school of pharmacy teams that entered the Good Neighbor Pharmacy National Community Pharmacists Association's (NCPA) Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition. Also, during that time, student attendees can attend the Community Pharmacy Residency Showcase to visit with college and school of pharmacy residency directors, preceptors, and current pharmacy school residents to learn about the exciting ways they are impacting patients in the community.

Select exhibitors will host Exhibitor Theater sessions on Sunday, October 14 and Monday, October 15 in the rear of the Convention Center's Exhibit Hall. These 30-minute non-CE sessions will offer attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the latest products and services from these companies. View the Theater sessions and times here.

Exhibiting company Essential Formulas Incorporated (booth number 1232) has invited Suzy Cohen, RPh to sign a complimentary copy of her book, Drug Muggers on Sunday, October 14 at 2:30 PM and Monday, October 15 at 2 PM. Cohen has been a licensed pharmacist for more than 22 years and is a best-selling author, syndicated columnist, and speaker. She has made guest appearances as "America's Most Trusted Pharmacist" on many shows, including The Dr. Oz Show and The View.

NCPA Convention pharmacy owner and manager attendees will also have the chance to participate in two Exhibit Hall drawings. On Monday and Tuesday, those attendees must visit each booth listed on their passport in order to participate in the drawing. After visiting with each company and getting their passport stamped by the exhibitor, they will bring the cards to the NCPA Membership Booth to be entered in two special drawings of $1,000 each awarded by NCPA.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet members of the NCPA Board of the Directors at the "Meet your NCPA Board of Directors" Forum on Tuesday, October 16 at 1:30 in the back of the exhibit hall. The NCPA Board will be available to talk and receive feedback from the membership at this first-ever forum.

The NCPA Annual Convention and Trade Exposition will feature nearly 18 hours of continuing education credits on topics including 340B, adherence, front-end merchandising and marketing, technology, and pharmacy-sustaining niches such as long-term care, immunizations, and compounding, and more.
