ALEXANDRIA, Va. (March 6, 2019)Davy Crockett Drug in Crockett, Texas has earned the National Community Pharmacists Association's NICE Award (NCPA Innovation Center Excellence) for Best Exterior Sign. This is the second year of the NICE Awards competition, which was created to recognize pharmacies for their efforts to enhance their value, promote their services, and better serve their communities.

"Congratulations to Davy Crockett Drug and owner James Martin for earning the NICE Award for Best External Sign," said Kurt Proctor, PhD, president of the NCPA Innovation Center. "The NICE Awards spotlight the best of community pharmacy branding and marketing – the innovations and redesigns that have made promotions more effective and patients' experiences more rewarding. James did a great of modernizing the outside of the pharmacy, making it more visible to patients while also staying true to the pharmacy's long-running theme."

Davy Crockett Drug is located on a busy town square that has traffic flow like that of a roundabout, said owner James Martin. "It is very difficult to navigate when you are looking for the store," Martin stated. "We had many customers complain that they could not find us."

To help people better locate the pharmacy, Martin decided to design and install a new sign.

"Our store is an old Rexall store from the 1950s, so we stuck with the blue and orange theme to make an eye-catching sign," he said. "Our sign was installed in April of 2018. Since then our front-end sales have increased by nine percent, and now everyone knows where Davy Crockett Drug is."

Davy Crockett Drug was established in 1961. Its products and services include standard retail, durable medical equipment, long-term care, medication synchronization, medication therapy management, immunizations, and delivery.
