If you're growling over DIR fees, unleash your frustration

by NCPA | Aug 28, 2019

We hear you. Community pharmacy is in a dog fight over onerous pharmacy DIR fees. While Congress is in recess, NCPA is encouraging members to use the Dog Days of August to do some barking. But August is almost over. If you haven't written a letter or sent a video, get busy! We'd like to keep the pressure on Congress, particularly members of the Senate Finance Committee, to address pharmacy DIR fees.

Here's how you can help:

  • Submit a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and post it on your personal or pharmacy Facebook pages. NCPA has sample letters you can personalize and submit, and we'll provide you with instructions on how to submit to individual publications.

  • Create a short video message from you to your senator, urging them to address pharmacy DIR fees. A five- or 10-second message filmed with your hand-held device would help get your senator's attention. Make sure to tag them on all social media channels. Here's a tip sheet to help you create an effective video. Please email video clips to Eric Lundberg at NCPA. You can also email him with questions or to request sample letters to the editor. As always, NCPA can assist you in creating an effective message.

  • Send letters to your members of Congress urging them to support the Phair Pricing Act to address pharmacy DIR fees. Here's a link to a letter you can use.

  • If you are represented by a member of the Senate Finance Committee here's a link to a letter you can send urging them to sign onto a bipartisan letter to the Trump administration, led by Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).
